The author gives insight on how many ways the Spaniards used their power to assist in the downfall of the Aztecs. The reason why the Spaniards became victorious, was because the Spaniards were looked upon as if they were gods because of their outer appearance. The Aztecs broke bread and welcomed the Spaniards with gifts and parties. The Aztecs triggered their relationship with the Spaniards by holding a ritual for the arrival of the god which included a human sacrifice. The Spaniards didn’t agree with the rituals and began to despise the Aztecs.
Adjustments in areas such as the Aztecs’ very worldview, as well as beliefs in religion. Following this, reconstruction in the Aztecs’ way of talking and writing were enforced by the Conquistadors, who spoke Spanish and wrote in words instead of pictures. Defeat struck the Aztec Empire in 1521 when Hernan Cortes and his army invaded and conquered Tenochtitlan, bringing the end of the great civilization. Could the Aztecs have done something before, something that could have changed the way the Empire had come to an end? Geography helped in a major way, surrounding the Aztecs with protection from Mt.Popocatepetl and Mt.Iztaccihuatl . The weapons and war strategies that the Aztecs used were very well planned and could have defeated the Spanish. Even so, Montezuma, the emperor of the Aztecs, had to ruin the victory.
While many worldviews exist, The fall of the Aztec empire was unavoidable. The Aztec’s were a group of people who were very religious and lived in Mexico for hundreds of years but one day a group of Spanish people arrived and executed all of the Aztec people. Many of them died from diseases the spanish brought with them like small pox. The others were killed by the spanish and some were taken to spain as slaves. This was led by an explorer named Hernan Cortes.

It was nice to find out about the Aztec and how powerful they was and how the try to make sure that their world was always in balance. But it was a shame to learn that they sacrifice their people so much Their beautiful cities was loved by the Spaniards, but I wonder why they just respect the Aztec culture. The Aztec Civilisation was one that lived way ahead of its time. Of course, any civilisation comes with its perks and weaknesses, this is what the Spanish leaders and military commanders used to their advantage. They exploited the Aztecs’ weaknesses and damaged them immensely. In 1519, Spanish Conquistador Hernan Cortes led a small fleet of 11 ships that all together consisted of just 490 men landed on the Gulf of Mexico. There are many factors that affected the collapse of the Aztec civilisation including the Spanish weapons, animals and cavalry, tactics, brutality and logical alliances.
Cortès and Europe as a whole tore apart the largest Empires on the new continent hiding behind god, though I doubt they would have done any differently if the Aztecs happened to have the same beliefs. So what was it like in the middle ages for the Aztecs? In 1325, the Aztecs settled on a lake called Lake Texcoco. They called this city Tenochtitlan. How did they survive on a swampy lake? They built chinampas and connected the chinampas with causeways.
The Spanish, despite giving the Aztecs permission to hold the celebration, were “seized with an urge to kill the celebrants” and ensued with the trapping and massacre of the Aztec celebrants (The Broken Spears, The Spaniards Attack the Celebrants). The Spanish hunted down and slaughtered every celebrant, even though the Aztecs were not a threat to them and posed no harm. The diametric responses to the inequality between the Aztecs and the Spaniards is clear: the Aztecs are submissive and respectful towards the Spanish, and often resort to hiding out of fear. In contrast, the Spanish are needlessly aggressive, avaricious, and intimidating; they demand gold, destroy the meaningful treasures of the Aztecs, seize Motecuhzoma’s treasures, and violently
