While feudalism and the class system of the European middle ages seemed to guarantee that families would remain in their social strata for eternity, the philosophers of the Renaissance challenged that status quo. They suggested that people could—and should—question authority. For instance, in Erasmus of Rotterdam’s The Education of a Christian Prince, he urged people to, “judge all things on their own merits as ‘good’ or ‘bad.’” Like many of his time who considered themselves humanists, Erasmus believed the study of the liberal arts could help people dramatically change their lives.

The Renaissance movement was the bridge because it was the beginning of individual thought, and appreciation of literature and the arts. People began to think for themselves, people started to come up with many great ideas, rebirth, and cultural expansion. In this time period with your enemies your suppose to be tough and with others be cool, and everyone needed to be good at writing, latin and greek, poetry, speaking and history. Leonardo da Vinci was not only a painter but also an architect, and inventor. Due to this he was known as The Renaissance Man (Bio.com Staff). Leonardo’s paintings have had a lasting impact on the Renaissance era. His most known pieces of work are The Last Supper and Mona Lisa.
Patrons were just as crucial to an artist as the artist was to the patron proving each maintained a vital position to the Renaissance representing the importance of patronage. Artistic patronage established the level of influence during the Renaissance for the patrons; however, an artist’s could obtain economic stability while creating their artwork with the financial support fulfilled by their sponsor. Since each was a pillar of importance to the Renaissance, the assumption is that patrons and artists elevated each other's status in society. Throughout the Enlightenment, in both public and private use of reason, Kant refers to the concept of freedom of expression By the public use of reason, Kant refers to the freedom of individuals to freely express their opinions and views in the conditions that they are not limited by their professional duties. Also, the public use of reason can understood as the use of expression outside of civic posts. Regarding the private use of reason, Immanuel Kant explains the situation when individuals are restricted to make use of their freedom of expression. The restriction is the requirement of carrying out their responsibilities.
Viewing themselves as heirs to Ancient Rome, the Florentines spearheaded the Humanist movement, believing that they were the ideal city state to inherit Rome’s prestige. They not only wanted to be like Rome, they wanted to become Rome, a centre for the arts as well as politics. This interest in the Greco-Roman style of art is what led to the advancement in sculptural technique. Additionally, there was a surge in patriotism due to the end of the plague and a break in the war against Milan. In celebration, the Florentines decided to beautify the city, to display their growing power.
Art during the renaissance During the Renaissance, there was a lot of artworks and creations. The art varied from paintings to sculptures. some of the famous artists during this time were Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Raphael, and Donatello. These artists have created amazing works and have more than likely inspired many artists around the world today. These artists have created a huge impact on the importance of art along with giving more of a historic background.
Michelangelo had a gigantic influence on the renaissance. He was a master at both painting and sculpting, he also was an architect, engineer, and poet. During his day he was unbeatable in his painting and sculpting skills. He had many artist study under him and help him with painting the Sistine Chapel in Vatican, but none were on par with him.
The renaissance was a time of many different improvements and changes to the era previous to it, the medieval ages, the renaissance re-introduced many different Roman and Greek traditional aspects, so much so that renaissance literally translates into “rebirth” in French. Other changes include social such as the rise of humanism and humanist beliefs, secularism, individualism, big changes in mathematical studies, sciences and all types of learning in general, the printing press invention, as well as religious changes, and the arts were also affected and changed with techniques such as chiaro-scuro, perspective, sfumato, and further more to be explained. The renaissance started in the end of the 14th century and ended in the 17th century. In
Students across the world are required to take a standardized test to enter college. A minimum score is set at each college and some are higher than others. The ACT and SAT are the most common test required to take. There is a fee for each test that must be paid every time it is taken. Test scores are enforced to be sent to the college the student wishes to attend.
It hosted a number of new styles and and thought process that was also not just for the rich, but the middle class. It experienced more of an emotionalism and was a psychological exploration not just by the artist but the viewers themselves (Detrick “Baroque”). A photographer today uses still lifes that really justify the baroque style of art that was dark and deformed. Tara Sellios uses her art to “lure unsuspecting viewers into her twisted Baroque still lifes” (huffingtonpost.com). The eleven contemporary stills i looked at by her were pretty messed up stuff.
