Furthermore, we see how propaganda played a crucial role in shaping public opinion and perceptions during the space race. Both the US and USSR used various methods of media to spread their messages across their countries and supported propaganda campaigns around the country. Following the launch of Sputnik in 1957, Soviet propaganda posters often featured slogans “Our rockets are faster”, and after the Yuri Gigarins flight in 1961, which had other posters with “Glory to the Soviet people - the pioneers of space!” The US also had extensive media coverage about the 1969 Apollo moon landing with magazines and news depicting the American flag.
