Starting in 1954 African Americans decided once and for all that now was a sweet time for a revolution. Since the moment they were forced to come to this country they have been treated worse than terrible. They have had to fight and claw for every right they have, and between 1954 and 1965 was an important war. In these years the civil rights movement changed the lives of African Americans for the better, it got the buses and schools desegregated, and gave African Americans the right to vote. In these years separate was no longer considered equal. In 1955, after years of being crammed into the back of the bus, and forced to give up their seat to any white person who wanted it, they said enough. Board of Education of Topeka case, the supreme court struck down the segregation laws in schooling. Needless to say white people of the south were not happy. A town in Arkansas called Little Rock decided they were going to do everything within their power to keep their schools, including Little Rock Central High school from being integrated. When nine black students, soon known as the Little Rock Nine, first tried to attend the school they were barred from entrance by protesters, and the National Guard, who had been called in by Governor Orval Faubus. Eight of the students had showed up together and had left when they saw the extent of the protesters. The ninth, Elizabeth Eckford, did not know the others were traveling together and came alone, and alone, she faced the full force of the protesters. What was happening in Little Rock could not be aloud to stand, school segregation was overturned at the federal level, so it came down to the federal government to act. In response to the protester and the National guard, set up against the Little Rock Nine president Eisenhower sent in the 101st Airborne to protect the student. The National Guard was also dismissed, and while the all the problems of the nine did not go with them, there were at least able to go to class. Next came
