Aztecs The Mesoamericans were truly an incredible influence on the Aztecs. Through all this time, they are still relevant. In the early 1300s, the Aztec empire started and it is still talked about to this day. This is exactly why the Mesoamericans were such great influences. The Aztec culture was deeply impacted by the Mesoamericans. Before the Aztecs were ever a thing, there were the Mesoamericans. They are known for their fascinating culture. Firstly, there is food. They shared the same traditional food: maize, beans, and squash. These were the main foods because they were typically grown together. Squash is valued for its seed and its flesh. Beans are an essential source of protein, balancing the amino acids of the corn. Second of all, their temples and architecture were monumental. Their groundbreaking temples were passed on to the Aztecs. The Mesoamerican temples were built around 1000 BC. The Aztec ones were built from 1325 to 1521. They were both recognized for their perfectly constructed pyramid temples. The Aztecs most famous temple was the Temple of Mayor.
