The Aztecs first came to Mexico in about 1427 and lasted to about the 1500s. They were a Mesoamerican culture who had traveled for a very long time trying to find a place to settle down. The Aztecs should be remembered for a lot of things. I think the Aztecs should be remembered for their sacrifices and religion. The Aztecs stayed in Mexico after traveling for so long because their god, Tezcatlipoca, gave them a sign that they would be safe and have fortune. Tezcatlipoca showed them this by a “prickly pear cactus, standing upon a rock that has grown from this heart and has become so tall and luxuriant that a fine eagle has made his nest there”. The Aztecs had a market so big and full of people that they could be heard about 3 miles away from the market all the way to the soldiers. They had to face many sacrifices and repercussions like they would have these beautiful festivals, but in the end they would sacrifice an enemy warrior.
