Why Did The Aztec Claim Their Capital City

In 1325, the Aztec claimed their capital city, named Tenochtitlan, on an island in Lake Texcoco. Though it may seem it isn’t the best place to live, the Aztec were smart. They made canoes to make travel easier and catching fish to eat. Making artificial islands to live on once the swamp was cleared. They made irrigation systems to create more farmland and grow more crops. Because of their farming methods, the Aztecs were a very wealthy city with a growing population.
As we know, the Aztec claimed their capital city, but we don’t know where they came from. We do believe that they came from a group of nomadic hunter-gatherers from northern Mexico. Legends say that their original homeland was called Aztlan. They arrived there around 1250. According
