The Incas, Mayans, and Aztecs all have a lot of differences and similarities. The Maya lived in Mexico and Central America. The Aztecs were located in the same place as the Mayans. Lastly, the Incas lived in Cusco which is now called Peru. The capital for the Mayans was Tikal. Tikal started out as a modest series of hamlets, it would become a great Maya city-state with more than two dozen major pyramids. The Aztecs capital was Tenochtitlan which is now called Mexico City. It was surrounded by a mountain and volcano. Cuzco was the capital for the Incas. It was the cradle of the magnificent Inca Empire. The time periods for the Mayans was from 1800 B.C. through 600 A.D. Between c. 1345-1521 C.E. was the Aztecs time periods. The incas were from ca. 1438 AD to 1532. They were all great civilizations. All three civilizations had very similar economies. For example they all had very similar crops. Their crops that were the same was maize, beans, squash, and sometimes chili. Some of the things that they traded were the same and some were different. The Mayans traded lots of things such as salt, cotton mantels, slaves, quetzal feathers, flint, chert, obsidian, jade, colored shells, Honey, cacao, copper tools, and ornaments. They all made a type of weapon. Their weapons were usually blades or spears. The Mayans made bows and arrows really well. The Aztecs figured out a way to make weapons out of obsidian and chert. They did that because they had no iron or bronze. The Incas had no writing system but the Mayans did. Since the Incas had no writing system they made something called quipus. It was bundles of cords to keep their numerical records. It was made up of a horizontal cord with a series of strings suspended from it.
