The differences between New England, Middle, and Southern colonies The British Empire began expanding over into North America in the late 1500’s. The first few attempts to creating a stable and lasting colony was a struggle for England and the new colonists until 1607 when the British granted the Virginia Company of London permission to send colonists over to North America (Boyer et al. 47). The first colony proved to be successful, and the British Empire believed that forming more colonies would bring in more profit for the home country. The Incas Empire capital was located in Cuzco, which is in modern day Peru (Boyer et al. 9). Much of the success that came to this empire was because of the advancement of agriculture, just like that of the Aztec Empire. The Incas people created new technologies so that they could increase their crop production for larger populations. This civilization also built irrigation systems for the agriculture, and constructed roads and bridges (Boyer et al. 9). Around 1800 B.C. to A.D. 250, the Mayans prospered in Central America and became one of the famous empires of all time (Jarus). Because this civilization conquered so long ago, it is important to know how they were successful in doing so. Just like the Aztecs and Incas, the Mayan society learned how to grow and prosper through farming (Jarus). The Mayan empire is also known for constructing large pyramids for their gods, and also for the creation of hieroglyphics (Jarus). The Mayans were very smart and created an empire like no other in the Americas. Because of early empires like this, the Aztec and Inca empires were able to develop more agriculture systems and technologies. All three of these civilizations had developed before Christopher Columbus and the Spanish conquered the Americas.
