The Revolutionary War was caused by Colonists being taxed without consent and their trade being restricted. There were many things the colonies felt weren't right. One of them being taxed without representation and being taxed without their consent. The Stamp Act made people pay taxes on every paper item. When the British did this, the colonies rioted trying to show the British that they didn’t agree with what they were doing. Another example that happened where they were being taxed without consent is the Tea Act. The Tea Act was when the British taxed everyone on tea to pay for the debt they were in with the French from the war. The colonists didn’t like the British and didn’t listen to them after trying to stop them many times, so they took matters into their own hands. The Tea Act is one of the most important restricted trades. American colonists were outraged over the tea tax. They believed the Tea Act was a tactic to gain colonial support for the tax already enforced. Another example is the Sugar Act. The British Parliament passed the Sugar Act in 1764. It provided for a strongly enforced tax on sugar, molasses, and other products imported into the American colonies from non-British Caribbean sources. Only English ships are allowed to bring goods. After the Boston Tea Party, the intolerable act started. The intolerable act was a series of five laws passed by the British Parliament in 1774 after the Boston Tea Party. The British made this act to show the colonies the outrage they had caused became the major push that led to the outbreak of the American Revolution in 1775. The colonists didn’t like that the British were doing this without them wanting to so they boycotted goods to the township duties after a while a bunch of people went after the British and this all caused the American Revolutionary
