Each thing is valid and really there” (Atwood 40). In other words, Offred is saying red tulips are most strongly associated with true love, while tulips to Serena Joy represents false love.

Myrtle, the other flower, is stark in comparison to the delicate beauty and ephemerality of the daisy.
