Introduction: The inability of Tsar Nicholas 11 to respond to or embrace political and social change during a time of crisis contributed significantly to the collapse of the Romanov rule over Russia.
Many economic factors led to the collapse of the Russian empire. Those factors not only affected the empire, they also affected the people inside of the empire. By examining these factors, we can find out how they led to the fall of Russia. The collapse of the Russian Empire was primarily caused by a combination of weak industrialization, agricultural inefficiencies, and the economic strain of funding World War I. These factors, among others, contributed to the downfall of the empire.
Russian tsars are authoritative Christian monarchs which started in 1721 from one of the first emperors named Peter I the Great. This empire lasted until 1917 when Nicholas had to abdicate his throne due to many reasons and considered a backward country. There is also a speculation about two family members surviving the firing squad. The Russian tsars established in 1672 and Peter I the great was Russia’s first emperor.

Furthermore, Nicholas allowed his country to enter two wars, the Russo-Japanese war and WWI, Russia being ill-prepared for the wars both times. The battles did not go well in either of the wars and his actions dealt great suffering to the people of Russia, especially the minority, or lower class. Although his country was in peril and he knew it, he refused to implement reforms. Tsar Nicholas II truly wanted to aid his country although his inexperience did not allow him to do so. Hence, this led to the murder of his family and the end of 3 centuries of Romanov ruling when the Bolsheviks took power of Russia.
The “Student Resources in Context” article entitled “Nicholas II” begins with a some facts about Nicholas II and his reign along with a brief timeline of his life. The article then sets up Nicholas II’s reign explaining the situation Russia was in and the death of his father. It then describes all the negative qualities of Nicholas II at that point that contributed to his eventual failure in ruling Russia. Immediately into Nicholas II’s reign at his coronation ceremony disaster ensued as members huge crowd trampled each other trying to get food. Nicholas refused to give up any of his power and Russia rushed into a war against Japan which brought Russia far more pain.

Montresor, from “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allan Poe, is manipulative, yet shows his weaknesses. Montresor manipulates Fortunato by insisting that if Fortunato is too busy that he will go with Luchresi and Fortunato repeats “Luchresi cannot tell Amontillado from Sherry” making it clear that Fortunato has been manipulated (Poe 292). As Montresor and Fortunato walk into the catacombs Montresor also keeps repeating “the Amontillado” when Fortunato might seem like he is about to back out (294). Even though Montresor killed Fortunato he tells the reader “My heart grew sick”, therefore letting the reader know that he is weak (295). Montresor was an evil man but his action will always come back to haunt him.

The Russian Revolution, which was started by Lenin and his followers, was a rebellion that occurred in 1917 which forced higher powers to act to the needs of the lower class. For instance, many citizens were worried for their protection in consequence to the lack of survival necessities due to an early drought. Furthermore, their current czar during the time was incapable for his position as a czar and made horrendous decisions as czar. For example, when the czar, Nicholas, entered in World War I, he sent untrained troops into countless battles of failure which costed in mass amounts of lost life (paragraph 23).
The Russians did not hate the Tsar at first as they blamed their troubles on the government, however an event called Bloody Sunday changed their minds. Citizens began to protest outside of Tsar’s palace where many were shot and killed by soldiers. This turned them against the man they once trusted. World War I also occurred during Tsar’s reign and ultimately killed many unskilled and unequipped Russian soldiers. This caused the citizens to dislike Tsar even
The failures of the wars Russia took part in damaged their economy even more than it already was. The extreme poverty of the Russian people and the overpopulation of the major cities making living condition dreadful. These factors put struggles on the Russian people and it made them very anger at the government. The Tsar, Nicholas II failures to lead the country properly and the consent bad decisions that was made caused outrage with the Russian people. All of these factors are the reason why the Russian Revolution in February 1917
