When Imperialism made its way to American colonies, so did Victorianism. America exploded with new technological advances and a new vision on the future. This strategic move was a positive merger between America and Britain. Many of the inventions that were introduced are still in use today for travel and leisure, but most are currently being used in import and export trades. Because there was an Imperial system, the Victorian age was apparent. They both worked together to colonize not only America, but also the Eastern continent, bringing their strong views of immigration and society. The different cultures and class of the populous often inspired a competition with the colonists that were considered to have fallen into money more recently. Victorians were believed to be wealthy for some time, and treated the newcomers as the lower class. Competition would rage about travel and distance amongst the classes, in which, the Victorians created the means to travel by steam locomotion. They would compete over housing and neighborhoods, therefore, Victorians would move further into the suburbs, commuting in motor vehicles to the city for work. Their houses would be vast with French architecture. They would import their French foods to lavish their dinner guests, realizing it came with a cost; they became to acquire a taste for more traditional foods. That, of course did not stop them from importing French wines to stock their houses. As Imperialism spread throughout the globe, the views on gender changed. Victorian’s views about the woman’s role seemed to shape new territories. Women became more acceptable, yet not equal. They pushed for more rights and privileges, however, were met with contempt. The same contempt for immigrants was expected. Under a singular ruled government, not all immigrants would conform to the forward thinking of Queen Victoria.
