William heirens was know to be handsome, popular, smart, and good dancer. He was also known as the presumed serial killer who killed three. His supposed murder span thankfully his murder span only last for 7 months. The name of whom he supposedly killed were Josephine Ross, Frances Brown, and Suzanne Degnan. They nicknamed him “The Lipstick Killer” because his second murder he Wrote a message in lipstick on a wall. Heirens was born on November 15, 1928 in Evanston, Illinois to Margaret and George Heirens. The couple never had a marriage which just added to their son’s psychological problems. The Heirens also were always on the edge of poverty and it got worse as The great Depression rolled around. His father would spend most of his paycheck on his friend and him at the local bowling alley. The lack of money was a very big problem at the Heirens household and caused many violent fights between Williams mother and father. Heirens, wanting to get away from the fighting, often took to the streets and is where he started his burgling. At the age of 11 Heirens said he saw a couple making love, when he told his mom about it his mom told him that was dirty and lead to diseases. After searching the apartment and not finding any trace of her the parents called the police. The kidnapping attracted a lot of publicity and the police vowed to find whoever was responsible. A ransom note was found by the police that said “Get $20,00 reddy & waite for word. Do not notify fbi or police. Bills in 5’s and 10’s.” on the reverse side of the note said “ Burn this for safty”. A man repeatedly called the Degnan household demanding for ransom but hung up before a meaningful conversation could take
