Before World War 1, the position of women in society was unfavorable and unfair. Women were expected to work in domestic service. Women were paid less than men, even if they did the same job as a man. Women were also expected that when they get married they give up work and be a mother and a housekeeper, and they couldn´t divorce. Women wanted to change this situation. However, World War 1 had a huge impact on women´s lives, it was the spark that lead women have their rights and make a change in society perceptions toward women. During men had to go to the war and quit their jobs, this gave women the opportunity to take men’s jobs. More than a million women were able join the workforce between 1914 and 1918, and they had different jobs.
