Introduction: “Emiliano Zapata’s Aim was land and freedom.” How successful and how long lasting was the influence of Zapata and/ or land reform on the Mexican Revolution? Zapata’s Influence remains in Mexico to this day, and his revolutionary attitude lives on through the Mexican culture. Zapata’s aim for land reform allowed the people of Mexico to be inspired and continue their quest for the redistribution of land. The people of Mexico have put special emphasis on Zapata’s name to protest and to create revolutionary movements in mexico. The first Mural I will be analyzing is The Zapatistas by Jose Clemente Orozco I will also be analyzing The Blood of The Revolutionary Martyrs Fertilizing The Earth by Diego Rivera. I chose these mural’s because I think they Provide a visual to the influence Zapata had on Mexico.

The dark colors that contrast the Zapatistas represents the oppressive regime that overcasts the Zapatistas. The uphill movement shows the Uphill battle Zapata and his followers faced. The tornado in the background shows that the Zapatistas brought a storm through Mexico Not only by physical fighting the Regimes’ but by destroying the school of thought that was present in Mexico. Some of the Zapatistas also seem to be carrying curved swords similar to a scythe which is a symbol to the grim reaper. The artist is purposefully contrasting the dark colors and the swords to represent the death the Zapatistas carried through Mexico, not only the killing they committed but the killing committed against
