The internet has been a wonderful home and place to me over the six or seven years I’ve dedicated to using it in my free time. And I have seen many fads and problems come and go, but there has always been one problem that has stayed and has been around since the beginning. In recent years, the users of the internet have seen the rise of the internet troll take place. Most have been a nuisance online, with the constant attacks on people and online groups. And now, not only do they affect the internet, they have started to affect and cause trouble in the real world. For example, there has been the recent mainstream media attention and belittling of Pepe the Frog, a meme commonly used by internet trolls for jokes. Not only can correct grammar show intelligence, it can also be very helpful and polite to the reader reading the comments, who now does not have to decipher what the original author meant. Poor and grammatically incorrect sentences, while not always a indication that one is dealing with a troll, are a very sure sign (Kawasaki). Trolls tend to comment in very quick bursts, wanting to get his or her idea onto the screen as quickly as possible. This leaves him or her little time to really look and analyze his or her comment for poor grammar and misspellings when typing. Trolls do reply quickly, with little bother to check for correct grammar and spelling, because they wish to get a reaction out of their comment as quickly as possible to fuel their need for more interaction from their victims.
