The public reason according to Kant is when one is free to express their own views when they are not restricted by their duties that are set forth in their jobs or lives. Public reason is the way in which you approach situations that are important in your life, causes and situations that you are passionate about. Being able to speak freely about something or to someone about something without restrictions from others is ones public reason. "The public use of one's reason must always be free, and it alone can bring about enlightenment among men" (Kant [1784] 1963). For Kant, if you were not able to use your own reason then you would always be a captive of your own "tutelage" [1784] 1963). Tutelage is Kant's way of saying that mankind is unable to do things without guidance from others and if you continue to stay in this state then you are not an enlightened thinker. Diana did not follow the monarchy in the way that the Queen expected her to and in Galileo's world, this would have been her way of flying alone to do her work of choice. Diana had a power the power of the people behind her supporting her through her charities which she did not have within the Royal family. She flew on her own idea no matter what anyone thought of her with dignity and grace, which was independent of the Royal family, which would mean she was an independent thinker. Galileo and his scientific method were very much a part of Diana's charities as she observed, hypothesized and then came to her own truth about the
