In order to make connections to the previous lesson, students will recall information that was previously learned, such as the definition of main idea and detail, explain the ways to identify the main idea, and describe details in a story. Making connections to skills they have previously learned adds value to the content the students are learning. I will model examples, guide instruction, and allow students to collaborate with peers in order to support student learning until they are able to identify the main idea and describe supporting details on their own. There will be differentiated instruction and assessments for students on different learning levels. It is important to teach to the students’ learning needs in order to see progress in all students.
I like writing all my notes out when studying for a test rather than simply reading off the slides given to me. I use this tactic when studying for every test. In the video, “Learning Styles Don’t Exist,” Professor Willingham states that, “Good teaching is good teaching and teachers don’t need to adjust their teaching to individual students learning styles.” This statement goes against my philosophy of teaching and implies that if a teacher performs well at their job then the students will learn regardless of how content is applied or learning styles. At first Professor Willingham had a few valid arguments, but as he continued, it became more and more shocking. Then I build on that knowledge by working with the class on document A (see instructional material 1.1) then let the class work on the rest of the documents in pairs. Through this method student are shown the material, and the work is modeled for them giving students a better understanding of how to read the documents (Bruner). Allowing students to work in pairs allows for peer learning allowing students to work together, and for students who are accelerated in the class to help those who are struggling with the material (Dewey). This also me to walk around the room, and help groups who are struggling allowing for easier monitoring of progress towards the learning target. In “What Works, What Doesn’t,” John Dunlosky and other researchers talk about how you study is as important as what you study. They are discussing the problems of the teachings from teachers that are not giving the appropriate techniques to use and help students learn the right strategies. In addition, they have done studies showing and giving those ways to learn, after reading seven hundred articles with ten similar strategies. However, to receive the recommendation there must be learning conditions such as working in groups or alone, age, abilities, and level of Knowledge. In the process we are going to discuss Self-testing, Distributed practice, Elaborative interrogation, Self-Explanation, Interleaved practice, Highlighting, Summarization, Rereading, Imagery, Keyword mnemonic The most effective techniques they have found that works the best.
Not only that but the way to improve a person’s learning and the ways to help your brain be prepared for learning. After reading this book there were certain concepts that I found can improve my learning are exercising, mindset and using my senses during learning. The reason that I feel that exercise would improve my education is because when exercising the brain produces neurochemicals that can improve my learning. But I have found that it does make a different in my education because when I started to exercise more, and I found that I improved slightly in classes and focused more in classes. Secondly mindset is also important in my learning because can affect people’s learning.

Classroom Observations Mrs. Canada is the first grade teacher that I observed, and the subject that she was teaching was reading. She had planned well-organized power points and crafting materials in advance, so she was prepared for the lesson. The two times I observed, the lesson that was being taught at both times was reading. Children in the classroom used a lot of previous knowledge for the lesson.
