To Kill a Mockingbird, Boo Radley and Tom Robinson are both symbolized by a mockingbird. Boo Radley is the first character to symb Inolize a mockingbird. The first reason why Boo is a mockingbird is because he has done nothing wrong to hurt people, despite the rumors. The rumors said Boo stabbed his father with a pair of scissors, however, that is not true. Boo never stabbed anyone. He is isolated in his house, so people think that he is evil, because they do not know him. Scout finally realized that Boo was not evil, or even a scary man late in the book. The nicest thing he did for the children was save them from Bob Ewell. When Mr. Ewell had intentions to kill the children, Boo realized this. Instead of staying inside like he normally does, Boo left his house to save Jem and Scout’s lives. Another good act Boo did was to spend some time with Scout. When Scout first met him, she got a little nervous from seeing Boo her the first time. Boo was not upset by this, but smiled to make her feel a little more at ease. Boo always did what Scout wanted to do to make her feel comfortable around him. Not only was Boo a friendly guy in person, but he gave Scout and Jem many gifts that they enjoyed, just like mockingbirds sing for people to enjoy. Scout would realize later that Boo had done many acts of kindness for her. The next person in the book that symbolizes a mockingbird would be Tom Robinson. Tom is an innocent man, despite being accused of raping Mayella Ewell. Tom is also completely innocent of harming her in any way. This makes him comparable to a mockingbird, since mockingbirds do not harm people’s land or crops.
