When we do something to please authority, we sometimes are not sure if it is for the right reasons. Every person on the earth has authority. However, the United States military branches are excellent examples to display authority. They have rankings such as corporal and colonel who interchange and are always moving up in the rankings. Sometimes what you are ordered to do is not always morally right. The film A Few Good Men portrays two lower ranking individuals who are fighting for their lives for what they were ordered to do. Loyalty and honor are two dynamic and important characteristics in the military. Tom Cruise plays the role as Lt. The subject of following orders again comes into play in the big picture. Santiago was to be transferred back to the United States off of the next flight off base because they feel he is not safe and something might happen to him from his peers. However, he was never able to leave. Kaffee was very leary about hearing the case at first. He did not really want to take it because he has made plea bargains his whole life. This case was going to the courtroom. Lt. Cmdr. Joanne Galloway was very eager to take on this case but she unfortunately did not get it. She was to help Kaffee in proving that these men were just following orders. LTJG Sam Weinberg is Kaffee’s other assistant lawyer and in a way, keeps the the moral up and occasionally pops in some humorous lines. Col. Nathan Jessep is the leader of the unit on the base. Supposedly, the code red order came from him. After Kaffee finally accepts the case, he starts off slow and this case is not very pressing to him. When Galloway enters the film she paints the picture that she should be the one in charge of this case, but if not she will press Kaffee to give the case all of his attention. So Kaffee and his team do start to gel as a unit and come to together. From the evidence on hand, they accept the fact that they have two Marines who admitted to simply following orders.
