Who is the man behind such words? Desmond Doss. Desmond Doss is courageous, kind, strong and should be considered an outstanding hero. Heros should demonstrate courage even in frightening situations like Desmond. Doss saved fellow soldiers lives without thinking about the consequences to come. He blocked a hand grenade with own legs just to save fellow soldiers lives. This caused him to have multiple injuries that changed the way he had to live forever. Without help, and with a weapon he saved the lives of 75 soldiers. Doss gave these soldiers hope, and gave them the chance to be able to go back to their families. Its not the fact that he saved so many lives its that he didn't think twice about risking his own life. Some of lives Desmond saved thought he didn't belong in the army. Think if your family member went into a war, If they got injured and left to die. Desmond was the guy to to save their lives, to risk his own in order to save them. Doss shows an abundance of strength proving that he is a hero. Some might say that Desmond Doss isn't a hero because he went against what is usually normal for the army. People might also say since he never carried a weapon so he was rebelling. But Desmond was not rebeling, he was goung with his beliefs and following his heart. Even without carrying a gun it didn't put anyone's life in danger. Doss didn't just risk his life by not carrying a weapon, but he saved approximately 75 soldiers lives.
