In the play Hamlet, by William Shakespeares, Prince Hamlet the main character, is sad about the unusual family situation he is in and wants to kill himself. Hamlet is trying his hardest to overcome his losses and grief. Hamlet’s calm life was turned around very quickly after his father, the king died. His mother, the queen got married to his uncle, Claudius and in no time, he took over the throne. Dealing with these difficulties causes Hamlet to change from a murderous, revengeful guy, to a calm and peaceful guy who wants control but let’s go of it because he doesn’t know how to get started. He is hoping to get the truth out of the king by doing the play because it is very accurate and similar to his father’s death. He says, “He that plays the king shall be welcome __his majesty shall have tribute on me”. This is just thought Hamlet is trying to take on stage. The tribute on me is being referred to old Hamlet. Hamlet has been trying to get his revenge for a while, but he hardly sees Claudius. Being that Hamlet wants to control the outcome of his Claudius, he thinks the best time to carrying on his revenge is when Claudius is in bed with his mother. Hamlet got engaged into a conversation with his mother about Claudius and how he wants to kill him. During the conversation, he suspects that someone was hidden behind the arras. He was not aware it was Polonius behind the arras, but was hoping it could be the king, Claudius. He grabs his sword and stabs it through the curtains severals times. Unfortunately, it wasn’t Claudius, it was innocent Polonius. However, Hamlet goes away without showing any regret after he killed Polonius he doesn’t feel any guilt afterwards because he thinks Polonius was spying on him, but it was accidentally done.
