I believe that No Child Left Behind Act and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) impact equality in education. In both acts you are dealing with individuals who need special attention to get the formal education that is required for them. In both acts, the outcome will determine the fate of the child’s future. I believe that the No Child Left Behind Act impacted education negatively while the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act impacted education positively. The reason why I state the at the No Child Left Behind Act impacted children negatively is that the child would move on to the next grade level whether they tried or didn’t try to learn. Everyone does not learn the same way. You may have individuals that may take a little longer to catch on to what is being taught to them. You may also have individuals who may need assistance that will help them learn. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act provides a free appropriate public education (FAPE) to children with disabilities. I remember when I was in school that they had Special Education. Children that were in Special Education really did not integrate with children who were not in Special Education. They stayed in a classroom to themselves all day. Since the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act these same so called Special Education students can integrate with their peers instead of being segregated. IDEA gives students who may have a disability to get tested at no cost. If a child has a disability an Individualized Education Program (IEP) is put into play. Parents also have a voice in the way that their child is being taught when it comes to IDEA. IDEA gives the opportunity to those to succeed when they thought they could
