2.2 Influence of other Characters on Pip
Great Expectations has several figures, including Joe, Pip's sister and Estella all have a certain influence on Pip, this part is written in the stories of several characters as well as their impact on the character of the hero Pip.
2.2.1 Joe
Joe Gargery is a village blacksmith, the brother-in-law of Pip, the main character in the novel. Although he is uneducated, he is sincere and friendly to all others. First of all, Pip even considers Joe as a model of standard. From him, Pip also learns and develops the character of goodness, simplicity together with honest. However, Joe is a little bit cowardly in that it is his wife who has a decisive say in family affairs and he often suffers beatings and receive scolding from his wife.
