The Cold War was a very large event in history, full of many political leaders switched in out of the war throughout the years. Nikita Khrushchev was one of those impactful and political leaders of the Cold War. Nikita Khrushchev demonstrates a Cold War problem because he instigated the Cuban Missile Crisis, allied with Communist Cuba, and constructed the Berlin Wall separating East Germany (communism) from West Germany (democracy). Khrushchev also hurt the U.S./Soviet relationship by being involved with the U-2 incident, constructing the Berlin Wall, and instigating the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Nikita Khrushchev demonstrates a Cold War problem in many ways. The first reason that Khrushchev demonstrates a Cold War problem is that he instigated the Cuban Missile Crisis by placing nuclear weapons 90 miles away from Florida. By doing this, he gained a powerful ally and this posed a problem for the U.S. and other countries because the Soviet Union was becoming way stronger than before (History.com Staff).
The final reason Khrushchev demonstrates a Cold War problem is that he constructed the Berlin Wall. The Berlin Wall was constructed to separate the Communist Soviet Union from the Democratic Allies, or East Germany and West Germany. Khrushchev constructed the wall because he didn’t want any of his people to move over to the Allies and their democratic government.
