“ How can you advocate breaking some laws and obeying others”. Say’s (Martin Luther King Jr.) .Today, many people think Martin Luther King Jr. , Mohandas K . Gandhi, and Henry David Thoreau are heroes of society. Gandhi, Thoreau, and King, while fighting injustice, focused on having a vision of an ideal community, having a deep concern for other people and their rights, while maintaining moral integrity. King shows moral integrity by fighting for African Americans and their right to vote on certain standards. He fights for his own rights too, as he was arrested for walking in parades without a permit or right. In contrast to, Martin Luther King Jr. , Gandhi has moral integrity by not letting Britain take away salt from the Hindu people in India . He knows if they would take away the right to eat salt. The Hindu people would insurrect and find other ways to get the salt from the ocean . On the other hand, Thoreau’s moral integrity in society would be letting everyone fight him but he will never fight back. “He won’t fight back because violence is the wrong way to go in any government law it only makes things worse on you and the victim”. However, Gandhi’s concerns for other people and their rights were not letting them down when it came to violence. Thoreau makes freedom for people by saying how the government is no government and if it don’t change then we have a right to resist any of the laws no matter what. They all want freedom for others and their rights to do what they want no matter the cause or effect on
