Niccolò di Bernardo dei Machiavelli, born on the May 3, 1469. in Florence. He was born in the Renaissance era, one of the most creative periods in literature,science and art that has put a break with the Middle Ages. Little is known about his early life, he was thought latin,grammar and rhetoric. He often used his fathers library to read classic books from that time, there he gained sympathy for literature. In the year 1498. Machiavelli was appointed as the secretary of the other offices (internal and external Affairs and war). This event had a great influence on his political opinion and inspired him to change his writings. After the fall of Cesare Borgia, when Medicis regained power in 1512, Machiavelli. lost his service, he was confined, imprisoned and tortured. Since then, he devoted himself for literature. The new rulers,the Medicis, invited him to write the history of Florence, which had alienated his Republican friends. When he was politicly inactive (1512-20) he wrote his major works.
