Dose anyone really change? Are age and physical attributes the only way a person can change? Or can a person’s circumstances change that person inside and out? In the Odyssey, Homer uses Odysseus’s Journey to show how one’s journey can change them as a person. One way Odysseus changed during his journey is that he became patient . This can be seen when Homer states “ Odysseus took his time,…”( Homer 1254). One might recall that Odysseus was a boastful warrior who always acted first and thought later. This led him to have many regrets. As time went by and regrets were made, Odysseus learned that patience is truly a virtue.

Odysseus’s wisdom can be seen when he, “carved a massive cake of beeswax into bits… I carried the wax along the line and laid it thick in their ears”(Homer 1234). This act of protection for his crew is a sign of wisdom. Circe warned him of the sirens’ song and not to listen to them or they will go insane. Odysseus uses his wisdom by listening and heeding her warning, as well taking her advice by putting the beeswax in his crews ears. One might recall that Odysseus often lost his wisdom when he became too prideful to listen to anyone. So does anyone really change? Are age and physical attributes, the only way a person can change?
