On October 7, 2003, Ryan Halligan, a 13 Year old boy from Poughkeepsie, NY, committed suicide. He was a victim of school bullying just like many other who been suffering in silence from the pain of bullying and having thoughts of suicide. He’s is a sweet, gentle and lanky thirteen years old boy. When Ryan was during the fifth grade, there was a kid and his friends picked up on Ryan. Then Ryan told his father that he has been picked up, and his father told him to ignore them. After Ryan reached 7th grade, there was the same kid and his friends from 5th grade were continued tormenting Ryan. Therefore, Ryan decided to learn Taebo to defend himself. His dad was really agreed with his decision, because he thinks it was the only way to protect his son from been bully. After a fight between Ryan and the bullies happened, the bullies seem to leave him alone. Unfortunately, the bullies and Ryan’s friends spread rumors around school and social network to tell everyone that Ryan is gay. The worst part was when the pretty girl whom Ryan’s heart crushed but she rejection, make fun, and post all of the personal, embarrassing stuff about Ryan on the Social Network. Every day, they wake up afraid to go to school because they don’t want to be bullying or to be the next victim of the bullies. There are laws and solution from government that help to decrease and stop the bullying as possible. School, parent and other have to make sure that they are doing their part to stop and prevent the bullying. Bullying is a serious problem, so if we feel like we can’t handle it on our own, there is nothing to be shy of asking for help. Parent should watch over their child, because they the one who the children needs the most
