Moon has grown his skills of reading and writing. Moon has learned more and has able to read and write better over the years of being in the woods and the little time he spent in Pinson. Moon lived way in the woods with his dad for most of his life and he has never been to school so the only person that taught him to read and write was his dad but he didn’t teach him much so Moon had to learn these skills and when he stayed in Pinson. There happens to be a small classroom where he would learn and when he first got into the classroom the teacher asked him if he could read and write and Moon replied by saying, “Read to myself and write, and I know most anything you can ask me about animals” (85). He has learned how to interact with others other than his dad and this turned out to be a big part because he used to only live in the woods far away from civilisation and the government so learning this social skill helps him greatly with talking to people that can help him on his adventure and how to just have normal day conversations with others. When Moon broke out of Pinson he had everything set up and ready for the three of them to leave but right before he left he decides to bring all the boys in Pinson along with him “All the other nineteen boys at Pinson got on the bus with their blankets and pillows” (103). Him deciding to do that helps him socially because he is interacting with a bunch of new kids his age and talking to them and telling them to come with him to escape and making friends with Kit and Hal seemed to be a great way he has grown but communication with the other nineteen boys also had a great impact to his social skills and his communication skill with other new people. This shows that Moons communication skills and interactions with others have grown a lot and will continue to improve once he escapes and meets new people throughout his crazy time being free and away from the government Moon has taught and grown so much in many different way either it being social, physical, and or emotional
