The one and only family feud between the Capulet’s and the Montague’s would be considered the main device for destruction of all things in “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet”. Romeo’s and Juliet’s love for each other cross paths between their families feud. There love causes chaos and makes other characters act according to their situation and the continuous thought of not betraying one's family. Tybalt who is a Capulet despises Romeo who is indeed a Montague because of their “parents' strife.” (1. Prologue). Tybalt is always ready to fight when he feels that his name has been belittled, whereas Romeo can dismiss such acts. In Act one scene one Tybalt greatly shows his aggressive side and antagonizes Romeo to get the reaction he wants but, Romeo does not show this side which further helps show his compassion. Tybalt makes the statement “What, drawn, and talk of peace! I hate the word,” (1.1). which, reveals just how much hate Tybalt has in his world. Romeo is able to have control over different situations and can handle things a lot better than Tybalt can or would be able to. Romeo was able to finally admit fault for killing Tybalt and asks for forgiveness which, Tybalt would not be able to do. Romeo makes the statement “Forgive me, cousin!” (4.3). which, is revealing that Romeo is sorry for killing Tybalt and acknowledges Tybalt as cousin. Romeo wants to connect with Tybalt because it is a way to show their difference. Tybalt is not mature and was never going to understand the concept of growing up, where Romeo was able to grow into his maturity. Romeo’s maturity is just another example of how very different Tybalt and him is. They are on two opposite poles and would only be able to come together if Tybalt was able to show the many characteristics him and Romeo actually
