Everything can change in the blink of an eye. That’s what happened to football player, Eric LeGrand. In the blink of an eye, his ability to move any muscle below his neck was taken from him. He went in for a tackle on Michael Brown when his head collided with Brown’s left shoulder. LeGrand fractured his C3 and C4 vertebrae, which caused him to be paralyzed. The doctors said that he had a zero to five percent chance of regaining neurological function. This injury significantly changed Eric LeGrand’s life. He could no longer play football, wrestle with his friends like he used to or even eat those fat sandwiches, that he loves, without help. He could no longer move anything below his neck. LeGrand was forced to give up many of the things that he loved doing, one of which was football. He loved to play football more than anything and in a split second, even that was ripped from him. He could not even walk anymore. These things made him a dynamic character. Not being able to walk after walking his entire life is a big change, and that is what a dynamic character is; someone that goes through an important change. In the book, it says, “These were the first few days of the rest of my life...I mean, I knew I had received a horrible neck fracture on the football field. I also understood that I would never have the same life as before…” (LeGrand 150). This shows that he was a dynamic character because it talked about how there was a big change in his life and how things were never going to go back to the way things were. Eric LeGrand’s paralyzation made him a dynamic character because it changed many important parts of his life. However, the fact that LeGrand was paralyzed is not the only reason why he is a dynamic
