March 17, 2023 Dear Readers, Fear. Fear is defined as being afraid of someone or something that is likely to be dangerous, painful or threatening. Should you fear your family? Should you fear your own brother?
We live our lives in fear. Some of us fear failure, maybe you fear the dark, others fear heights. While some of humanities fears may be irrational, there is no denying that everyone experiences fear. But how does fear affect us? How does it affect our actions?
Fear. We all just relate to it as being another common emotion that is regularly familiar in everyday life which isn’t much of a problem. But fear has a larger impact on our decisions and actions than we all think. It is powerful in transforming the way people react and act towards certain situations and can be more serious. Fear arises with the threat of physical, emotional, or psychological harm.
Fear can leave you petrified, but hope is the greatest strength that you can possess and hope will always overpower
In the end, he overcomes the fear, challenges, and tasks to reveal his treasure. The definition of fear is an emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or a threat. Santiago was fearful of fear when he was crossing the desert, not knowing if their caravan was going to get stuck in the middle of a battle or if they were
It’s All About How You Handle the Fear “Courage doesn’t mean you don’t get afraid. Courage means you don’t let fear stop you.” -Bethany Hamilton.
Humans are born to be afraid. A feeling of fear is only natural for humans to feel; it is a part of who we are. However, it can be more than just a feeling. Fear can be a weakness in humans even though it is only our natural instinct for survival. Sometimes, fear is so powerful that it can blur our rationality and dominate how we think and what we do.
Dr. Nichols (2010) writes; “Many fears are positive and productive because they prod [one] to do something about fearful situations” (p. 23). “Fear is a healthy, natural response that can turn unhealthy and manipulative” (Nichols, 2010, p. 70). The concept of action should be one of encouragement because fear can cause anxiety, anger, and depression. Anxiety “wastes mental, physical, and spiritual energy” (Nichols, 2010, p. 54), and anger is a “dangerous emotion that becomes a distraction from the main problem” (Nichols, 2010, p. 57). Fear can also cause bodily damage over a period of time, including heart disease, cancer, and damage to the immune system (Nichols,
Fear is a feeling that most see as a negative force which pushes you back. However, I believe it is on the contrary. Although some may say fear is not harmful, fear is harmful due to the reason where many false accusations caused by fear lead to a massacre of deaths. some may argue that fear can be beneficial in certain circumstances. In "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller, fear is a strong theme throughout the entire story.
Fear can be very advantageous when it comes to surviving. Fear inhibits you from doing risky actions that can put you and others in danger; it keeps you cautious and careful. Even though fear helps you when surviving, fear can harm you in life. Fear can cause paranoia that keeps you from enjoying life. You start to obsess over minimal things leading to hallucination.
Fear is not always a harmful emotion. Through fear, we have learned life-long lessons that not everything will work in our favor. We have grown around the definition that fear is “an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain or be a threat” but never that the emotion is a natural and a helpful response. The Crucible, Farewell to Manzanar, and a George Takei interview all provide examples of how fear can be both harmful and beneficial.
Fear can be defined as an unpleasant feeling triggered by a situation. It is an emotion encountered by every human being. However, the reactions of people to fear may vary. Indeed, it ranges from the loss of rationality to the capacity of adaptation in extreme conditions. Thus, fear can be perceived as a weapon to control and manipulate society.
Fear comes from a lack of proper understanding, the unknown and the insecurity of not being able to anticipate or evaluate a thing. Fear also makes them want to conquer it. That means action and fighting that fear. Can you wrong someone for their instinct and
Fear always comes up during challenging circumstances, irrespective of your level of confidence, however, you can use it to make you more energetic and improve your performance - you now have a different relationship with fear. This will take some time to sink in but when it does you will see a big difference in your daily life. You might start referring to it as "pumped" or "amped" as opposed to "fear" or "worry" or "anxiety". If you don't have anything to focus your fear on, make a bit of room for it and fully focus on your activity.
Being afraid is a sign of weakness. Successful and brave people don't experience fear. You have to get over it or it will keep you from getting ahead in life.
