Generation Z is the generation that was born into an era of aweness. In fact, “Generation Z never had the luxury of a threat-free perspective so they’ve been forced to view life through a more guarded lens from the start” (Scott 1). The people of Generation Z have never had a world that was affected by the 9/11 tragedy, which changed American security. The technology is “more networked all the time, they expect to be able to customize things exactly to their preferences” (Rockwood 1). They rely on social media and news networks for updated information about their peers and the world, yet they are skeptical of the authenticity of the information at times. The students that are in this generation have had to deal “with 9/11, Columbine, and ISIS, so Gen Z is very conscious and security-minded” (Little 1). The Apple iPhone has understood this and made the password into a fingerprint identification. It is clear that Generation Z “ are realists, they’ve grown up in a world filled with consistent reminders of what is wrong and what needs to change” (“Step Aside” 1). Security needs to be able to adapt to the needs of the moment of any situation. Security may seem like too much of an issue to deal with but it is “quite the opposite, it offers corporations the ability to create an agile and robust security strategy for the era of digital transformation” (Wong 1). They have become an “amalgamation of everything, a proud melting pot of all the things. Do not alienate, do not oppose” (“Step Aside” 1). There is an acceptance of the differences between races, lifestyles and religions. Generation Z “is a huge group of diverse, multiracial people filled with a desire for altruism and driven by a strong entrepreneurial spirit” (“Step Aside” 1). There is less of a line between cultures and more of an accepting spirit between those who disagree.
