Gunpowder explosives began to be used in the 12th century in china, in ceremonies and for limited in battle fields. During the 13th century trade along the Silk Road the gunpowder was introduced to Europe where they started to use it for military practices. Gunpowder weapons were adopted very quickly during the Hundred years’ war. By the beginning of the 15th century heavy weapons and explosives were being built and used in war. In this paper, the focus will be on how the gunpowder weapons changed the warfare in the early 15th century.

The Chinese emperors had tried to keep the discovery of gunpowder as a secret weapon, but before the 1100s AD their secret spread to other nations such as the Islamic Empire and the Roman Empire. The knowledge about gunpowder spread out very fast throughout the word in the 13th century due to the Mongol Conquests. The gunpowder formula was used in the 14th century in warfare in weapons such as fire arrows, bombs and the fire lance before the invention of the gun.

The use of gun caused the development of artillery during the beginning of the 15th century, which was pioneered by the Duchy of Burgundy. The use of gunpowder in fire arms dominated the early modern warfare in Europe.

There is no doubt that the invention of gunpowder weapons changed not only the warfare in the beginning of the 15th century also the face of the face of the modern world. It became easy and possible to attack an enemy from great distance than it was before the invention, the accuracy and range increased over time due to the creating of complex gunpowder
