Many government officials still hold to the 2nd Amendment, which bluntly states, "... the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. " This being part of the Constitution, it bears a lot of credibility.
Gun Control: an Argument Dating Back to Before 1776 The debate of gun control dates back 100s of years,and many people want to ban guns so that no one can have them. That statement is complete ignorance to what really goes on. The debate has many different viewpoints with some being as radical as banning guns to create a false sense of Utopia. The recent rise of school shootings has set off a spark of gun control debates that make little sense.
There has been some bad history with guns, (especially in the wrong hands). There was an incident at a school in Newtown, Connecticut, where a boy named “Adam Lanza” went into an elementary school and starting shooting at all the kids and staff at the school. Gun Control Gun control is one of the most talked about issues in America with the many mass shootings in the past years. People are scared and worried for themselves and their families, most of these people want guns to be banned or at least restricted. While the other part of Americans believe that guns are not the issue and feel that banning them would go against their constitution right to bear arms. As of 2013 an estimated 270 million total guns are registered to people in the United States.
The United States constitution states by the 2nd amendment, that all men have the right to bear firearms in order to protect themselves. The gun policy in the US has been widely discussed in broad manners, and after hearing so much from different media outlets, I believe that I am able to make a stand on where I lean towards on this complex subject I do not think fondly of the USA’s gun policy, it has never worked and the whole concept of allowing firearms in a society is a very bad idea. The gun policy fails in every way, and a major problem is that it can be abused by anyone. Without much hesitation, a person can purchase a firearm, which of course is very dangerous.
Gun control has been a controversial issue for many years. Many citizens believe that if gun control is strictly enforced it would reduce the threat of crime. People have the right to bear arms for protection, or even just the pleasure of hunting and recreational activity. With the recent events involving firearms and mass shootings, people are skeptical whether to increase or decrease gun laws. Americans have a constitutional right to own handguns and stricter laws and licensing will not effectively save lives.
Gun control has been a big factor in today’s society, now days it is often to see people getting their lives taken from them due to guns. Having researched one side of the issue, that gun violence had increased over the last year. Having researched the other side of the issue, more gun owners are feeling their rights are being taken little by little. There is no question this is a complicated issue that will require a complicated answer.
I think it’s ok that Americans would want to own guns like shotguns and rifles for the popular hobby of hunting. However it is unreal that our government would let people carry handguns. Handgun possession should be very limited because they are made pretty much to kill (Loaded Word) people, handguns have increased the killing rate in the U.S. and they have even led children to easily kill other children.
Guns should be banned in America, with 30,000 deaths yearly in America, we need to do something about it. Many counties have made strict gun control laws or just have banned guns and that seems to be helping them. We have the most gun deaths out of all wealthy countries, which is unacceptable and we need to change it as fast as possible to prevent further deaths. Many people say that guns shouldn't be banned because of how the Second Amendment says, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” The Second Amendment was written in 1791, around 225 years ago!
America has been set on ideals created centuries ago; focusing on freedom and fighting for the rights of many. However these ideals once used to protect the nation are being misinterpreted by far too many people today. Guns have always played a big role in the lives of Americans, and many believe it is a necessity and all should have the right to own one. What they are unaware of are the average 13,000 gun homicides that take place within a year. Guns are slowly but surely becoming the leading cause of death in America.
Even more, the country of Switzerland requires its citizens to own firearms and they have the lowest homicide level in the entire world. Two leaders, Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong, took the guns away from their people; they both ended up killing twenty million people. Most guns should be legal because they protect citizens against crime and governmental tyranny, bolster individual freedom, and reduce crime. Having the right to own guns protects the citizens against crime and governmental tyranny.
Guns are just a tool, like knives and hammers and it completely depends on the people on how they use it. People who support guns and arms say that the Second Amendment secures individual’s right to carry guns with them and that gun rights is needed for self-protection, and was intended for military to have peace and defend the country if needed (Spitzer, 70). Most of the Americans use guns as a source to protect themselves and they believe that gun ownership prevents crime. A study conducted on November 26, 2013 showed that bans on weapons did not significantly affect murder rates at the state level (Lane, 5). Moreover, even if the rules and regulations are executed on gun control, not all criminals obey the law.
And this is causing a big problem because people are misusing them. Therefore, I believe the guns should be banned in the U.S. It is no exaggeration to say that guns are the key element to cause the instability in the society of U.S. The citizens are possessing guns in U.S. and this is a huge risk for the government and the safety of society itself. To begin with, the second amendment of the US constitution gives citizens the right to carry or possess a gun. As a result, gun violence in America has increased drastically over the years due to guns being utilised in a reprehensible manner and people getting wedged in the crossfire, hence why stringent law enforcements need to be put in place regarding guns in the US. “Since 1982, there have been at least 61 mass murders carried out with firearms; in most cases, the killers had obtained their weapons legally”.
