Chiron brought Asclepius up and became his mentor. He taught him about the art of surgery and the effective use of drugs. He was also taught about incantations and aphrodisiacs as aids to healing. During his life, he was said to have done many miracles, like bringing back the dead. In doing this, Asclepius angered a couple for messing with the natural flow of life. When Asclepius brought back the dead, Hades was not happy about it because he felt like the souls of the dead were rightfully his to keep. Along with Hades, he also angered many other gods. As a result, Zues struck him down with a lightning bolt that ended his life. Now that this was done, no one could ever be brought back to life again, and everyone was subjected to the natural order of life and death.
