Sailing the high seas, plundering and pillaging villages, rescuing a damsel in distress, and fighting against skeleton pirates of the night. In the first movie of the series Pirates of the Caribbean (2003) audiences are introduced to the good civilians who lived by the sea and the evil pirates who spend their lives attacking them. Every character in a movie is different and is unique in their own peculiar way; whether they are the good guy or the bad guy. However, the movie has one character who dances along the line of being a hero and a villain. Pirates are automatically labeled as evil because they went from island to island and took whatever they could, and destroyed anything they got their hands on. Jack Sparrow turns the pirate image around when he shows that not all pirates are the same .When the audience is introduced to Jack Sparrow he is sailing in a little boat to the show of an island, but he passes by hanging pirates and he takes of his hat. During the film the audience is introduced to the generalization that pirates are evil beings who only want to steal and plunder on the high seas. However, Jack Sparrow takes notice of his fellow pirates and pays his respects to them by taking of his hat with a solemn expression. Later on in the movie when Jack is speaking to Will (Orlando Bloom) about his father Jack comments on how “ The only rules that really matter are these: what a man can do and what a man can’t do. For instance, you can accept that your father was a pirate and a good man or you can’t”(Jack Sparrow, Pirates of
