The Catcher in the Rye is a story that tells the adventures or misadventures of a seventeen year old, named Holden Caulfield, as he leaves his preparatory school called Pencey Prep and goes to New York City. The troubles that Holden goes through help many readers relate and identify with him even if they haven 't gone through the same situation. How? There are many influential characters in this book. First, of course, is Holden Caulfield who is the main character or protagonist in the novel. Holden has become many peoples’ hero because of the things that his character goes though. In the book, Holden is a troubled person; he is looking to find his purpose as many young people do around his age. Holden is haunted by the death of his younger
