Lord Capulet’s own free will forced Romeo and Juliet to pursue actions, such as marriage, that inevitably resulted in their deaths, which is demonstrated through Shakespeare’s use of foreshadowing. In Verona, there are expectations for young girls that they marry a fine man and labor babies, especially in high-class families such as Montague and Capulet. In the Capulet family, Lord Capulet has prepared a bridegroom, Paris, for his fourteen year old daughter, Juliet. Although, Juliet refuses to marry Paris because she is secretly already married to Romeo, but her father does not know that. As a result of Juliet expressing that she does not want to marry Paris, Lord Capulet angrily replies to her disobedience, “But fettle your fine joints’ gainst
To start, the capulet parents are the reason a lot of the characters grew up in this hostile environment between the family which caused problems throughout the story. Tybalt (Juilets cousin), one of the antagonists, even stated "what, drawn, and talked of peace. I hate the word, "As I hate hell, all montagues, and thee"(i..63-65). And shortly after he said that a fight broke out
Both families finally realize the rivalry was pointless, a little too late. The feud was resolved after they lost their loved ones. All of the problems throughout the play happened due to hatred between two families. The animosity between the Capulets and Montagues is only part of what contributes to the death of the “Star crossed lovers.”
Also, if Capulet would have just waited for the wedding to happen and not take it so fast things would've worked out way better. He even says, “Do you think it's a good idea to rush it”? Now we know he would've still had his daughter if he wasn't so concerned about her love life the whole time. As he says
The prologue explains that the Capulets and Montagues have been feuding for years, (Quote). It may seem like it’s not their fault because they are just continuing what their ancestors did, but they should have been smart enough to know that their fighting would hurt people. The Prince in scene 1 knows this, and he calls Lord Capulet out on it, (Quote). Instead of getting on his house he continues their feud and lets Tybalt fan the fire. Furthermore, when Romeo kills Tybalt, Lady Capulet has such a need for bloodlust she is the reason Romeo was banished (Quote).
Therefore, you cannot put the whole blame on Tybalt because he is not the one that started the feud and if there was not feud then there would be no problem. This grudge between the Capulets and Montagues was buried for a long time, but this generation has brought back the hatred and fighting. Romeo and Juliet throughout the play has certain people pressuring them to do things they might not want to do, in other words, they are losing their free will and other people are starting to make decisions for them. The Montagues and Capulets hate each other with a passion and here is a quote to support that, Tybalt says- “Peace? Peace.
In document D “Disobedient witch” it states, “To go with Paris to Saint Peters church, or I will drag you on a hurdler thither.” Capulet should not have said such things to Juliet because it just made her want to rebel more and do the opposite of what her father said because she knew for a fact Romeo was the one she wanted to marry and be with. The feud The Capulets and The Montagues had against each other did not help but made things worse. If their families weren’t enemies this would not have happened either, they should’ve ended their feud long ago and this tragedy would have been prevented. Also because of their feud, Romeo and Juliet had to rebel and secretly marry each other.
Lord Capulet is responsible for the Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, five dead and his own family in pieces. He is selfish throughout the play and only does what he thinks is best for his family instead of what would actually benefit those around him. Lord Capulet is egotistical and doesn’t think much of others and the way he treats them. In act 3, scene 5, after Juliet told her mother she doesn’t want to marry Paris, Lord Capulet comes in and says to her, “Hang thee, young baggage, disobedient wretch!
Although Lord Capulet has a violent rivalry with the Montague family, and he is an unbiased host to all that deserve respect in the eyes of Verona. In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet Act one, Scenes one through five, the character Lord Capulet has two distinctive traits that define him. The traits of Lord Capulet are, he is violent, but at the same time unbiased against his foes. This shows how even though he may be a fighter, he is still a honest man.
Lord capulet and Juliet had a unpleasant and unhealthy father daughter relationship. The story starts off with Lord Capulet as a good father however that is incorrect. He had a threatening argument with Juliet before she died. He threatened that if she did not marry Paris she will be thrown to starve in the streets. His stubbornness and selfishness overcomes the love he has towards Juliet.
Although I do not believe that this is true and I will be discussing my reasons throughout this essay. My perspective of Lady Capulet is that she isn’t a good mom at all and that she is a very obedient person. Lady Capulet is not a good mom at all for many reasons. One reason is because, she never knows where her daughter is and she lets the nurse take care of Juliet 24/7 even when she could be the one to take care of her. In the play, Lady Capulet asks the Nurse, “Nurse, where’s my daughter?
From the moment Juliet and Romeo are born they are told they can not do anything but feud with the other family. The children had no input in this, it was decided for them. The destiny of these two has always been to resent one another. The Capulet's and Montague's are fighting from the start.
This goes against the family feud as Montagues and Capulets are supposed to hate each other. His love of Rosaline motivates him to trespass on Capulet property where he meets his next love, Juliet Capulet. Even though he is
The feud between the Capulets and the Montagues have been very deadly and many lives have been lost because of it. In the play Tybalt, a Capulet said ¨As I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee¨. (1,1,64) He hates all Montagues as much as he hates hell. He hates them enough to kill them
The Capulets and Montague are similar in a number of different ways but the two families are also different in some ways as well. A couple of the differences between the two are, the Capulets seem to be more violent and evil, an example of this is: “Tybalt 's reaction to Romeo at the masque, and Capulet when Juliet refuses to marry Paris” . Capulets are also a lot more strict and innocent compared to the Montagues. Montagues come across more laid back and emotional and caring in their family. An Example of this is: “His father is constantly worried about romeo, as his wife, and lady Montague dies of grief of Romeo 's banishment”.
