Throughout history, certain rulers have created reputations for themselves. Whether it is Catherine the Great, Napoleon Bonaparte, or Simóne Bolívar, every leader has a reputation for being a rebel, leader, or backstabber. This has been decided by what decisions they have made and what actions and opportunities they took. Another factor is where they came from. But overall, rebels, leaders, and backstabbers are differentiated by character and values. Catherine the Great was originally married to Peter the Great who she had to rebel against. Napoleon was a french general who led the standard and example in battle. Usually, generals would be in the back of the army so they could be less likely to die. Napoleon put that aside and led on the front lines. And, it obviously worked because he won many battles with an army that not many expected to win. Not only that, when he witnessed acts of bravery, he would take medals off his chest and give them to his men. Another act of leadership didn’t involve the military but rather involved the peasants and the church. Napoleon bought the land back from the peasants instead of taking it, which he totally could have pulled off. But he did this so now the peasants could be closer to becoming normal members of society. And, the nobles wanted more power. Napoleon made deals with the nobles to satisfy them and got them able to participate in government. Napoleon also lowered the price of bread, which fixed the French economy. Now, most were able to have food on the table because of this but also because of the favor he did the peasants. He also gave people religious freedom because he understood how important that was to people. He went against his own views because Napoleon himself didn’t see religion as a valuable aspect as much as other people. Napoleon knew how to find the best solutions to problems and use his leadership as one of the solutions. He knew he had to do what was best for society and the societies to
