How Is Napoleon Similar To Joseph Stalin Animal Farm

In the novel, Animal Farm, by George Orwell, a lot of the strategies that Stalin used are similar to the strategies that Napoleon used. Napoleon is a prime example of how absolute power corrupts absolutely because he used his knowledge and power to take over the farm.

Stalin and Napoleon were very powerful people who had a lot of influence over the people and animals. “It was only in 1929 that Stalin gained the power to announce his ‘Great Break’ of forced industrialization, class war against the upper peasantry, and collectivization.” ("The black swan of the Russian revolution." Independent Review, vol. 22, no. 2). When Lenin died, Stalin kicked Trotsky out and attained all the power, as did Napoleon, when Old Major died.

The revolution was initially meant for all animals to live equally, but Napoleon and Stalin defy that rule and put themselves before others. By doing this Napoleon and Stalin are treating the others unfairly. “The other revolutions eventually produced relatively moderate dictators--what came to be known as traditional dictators.
