Physics was observed during a DHS girls lacrosse game by Newton’s Laws and in free-fall. Newton’s Laws consist of 3 different laws, the law of inertia, F=ma, and action-reaction forces. Free-fall was observed in the game when the lacrosse ball falls, and only gravity acts upon it. All in all, Newton’s Laws and free-fall was portrayed during the lacrosse game.

People should always try new things, but people are too afraid to try it because they are scared. But, I am here to tell you two stories that will teach you how you always try new things. In the story “A Day on the Slopes” by Jaclyn Einis, it talks about a kid named Bobby who goes on a scary slope for the first time, but then tries it for the first time and loves it. The next story “Amra and the Skateboard,” by an Unknown Author, it talks about a girl named Amra who is scared to skate in front of high school kids, but then tries it and likes it.
In the final seconds of the Men’s Olympic Ice Hockey game in 1980 between the United States and Russia, announcer Al Michaels shouted, "Do you believe in miracles? ... Yes!" (“The 1980” ). The United States’ Men’s Hockey team had pulled off arguably the greatest win in United States Olympic hockey history by beating the Russians, who were considered a world superpower both on and off the ice. This led to the game becoming known as “The Miracle on Ice.”

Less people were attending the games which led to some teams and programs having to shut down which led to many disappointed people. Despite its downfall, it quickly sprung back up during what was considered to be the “ NCAA Era’’ which ran from 1971 to 1998. The popularity was brought back largely due to the Gait twins. Paul and Gary Gait were two brothers who excelled highly at the sport of lacrosse.

Some view skateboarding as a fun recreational activity, but others have different experiences; skateboards and skateboarders can cause damage to public and private property alike. Even a frequent skateboard rider conceded that he might “scratch your pretty marble ledges,” or that his board might hit a pedestrian (Source B).
The Miracle on Ice inspired many players around the country to believe that anything is possible and also introduced them to the sport of hockey. Part of the reason there was such a large increase in hockey participation after the game was because hockey became a national sport, instead of being a “northern sport.” The spread of hockey needed a tipping point, and this moment was it.
