Introduction
Ads use a variety of ways to connect with readers, trying to persuade readers into buying a product. The way the Blue Poise (Thinner) and Pink Poise (Moments) convince readers to look at them is the author's vision. By using symbolism, simplicity vs. clutter, color/tone, the setting, and word choice the author can convince the readers to have feelings about the ads.
Symbolism
Symbolism is used when the author tries to make a connection with the reader through an object. The way Thinner uses symbolism is by making the ad more intriguing. Notice at the bottom, the pads are on a scale that does not show weight numbers. The reason the creator did this was to show how the product is weightless. This eventually works its way into convincing

Also, notice the position the pad is in. It almost makes it look like a feather. The author might have done this to show another way the pad could be advertised as weightless. In Moments symbolism is hidden throughout the ad to convince consumers to buy the product. Based on the ages of the kid and the adult the reader can assume that she is a mom. The author used the mom to draw in the female parent because they gave birth, which can cause them to have bladder leaks. The author decided to put a young mother and daughter to attract parents. The mom and daughter in the picture are hool-a-hooping together. One reason the author decided to use a hool-a-hoop as the activity is because hool-a-hooping requires a lot of movement in the inferior part of the body. Another reason the creator used a hool-a-hoop is because it has the shape of a circle. One example of a cycle is a mother who laughs or sneezes, which causes little accidents. The hoop-a-hoop can also be the symbolism of childhood. Because of this reason the author decided to have the mom hool-a-hoop to show that she is more energetic and feels like a kid again. Another symbol to notice is the clothing that the lady is wearing. …show more content…
In Thinner the color used is blue. The color blue can make someone feel calm and carefree. The reason the author chose to use this color is to show that if a person wears this brand of pad then they will not have to worry about leakage. Also the tone of the color can make someone calm when looking at it and later on remembering how they became more relaxed compared to other ads. The color blue was also used as a target in stores. The ad wants people to go to the store and easily be able to find the product or have it catch their eyes when they walk past. The color green is displayed in Moments to represent growth and health, which is how the author is trying to sell the product. The green grass and trees show how the mom and the daughter can be one with nature. They can take in the moments that they have together and enjoy themselves. In little spots in Moment the color pink is used, so the reader can remember the product when they go in the store to find it. Pink is also associated with feminine
