During the 1920's, the United States became the wealthiest nation in the world. It took many years for the economy to recover and to begin to produce again. By the year of 1921, the economy was on the come up, American per capita increased in industrial output and the unemployment rate was low. Americans were starting to enjoy the wage increase and the higher standards of living again. The economy was improving but it was still in an uneven and an unstable state. Only a hand few of Americans benefited from it. Farmers in the South and West were still living in poverty. Basically, the rich were getting richer and the poor was getting poorer. This also affected the immigrants, such as the Latinos and the Native Americans and the American Southwest.
