The Progressive Era, a period in history from the late 1800s to the early 1900s marked significant transformations in society, politics and the economy. It was a time of pushing for reforms to combat the inequalities brought on by industrialization. It gained momentum while America's imperialist ambitions expanded globally. Jane Adams represented the struggle of progressive reformers via Hull House. The Hull House expanded the services like childcare, education, health care, etc.
The progressives, wanted to create a society that acted as one. The idea of being an individual was something to be forgotten in order to create a more perfect civilization of order and pureness. During this time of the progressive movement, the rest of society began to reject it ideology of their message and goals of nonpleasure and work. Between the 1890s and World War One, reform efforts started taking place by the progressives. The progressives were not a single unified group and even had some contradicting goals. They were middle class urban dwellers and some were women. The progressives wanted to end prostitution, Americanize immigrants, antitrust legislation created, women’s suffrage, and the start of prohibition.
The progressive era changed the face of America it impacted so well to today's society. Without the women's suffrage and everything that happened today's society would not be the way it is. The main thing that happened in the progressive movement was eliminating corruption in the government. The progressive era was around the 20th century. Without the progressive era our society would be so different.

This period of time focused on improving society in the United States—who needed to see change after the negative nation that was brought forth by the Industrial Revolution. From social, economic and political problems, Americans brought these issues to the government to listen to them. The progressive movement is dedicated to improving the lives of Americans by creating programs to provide relief. Some beneficial reforms that were important in the progressive era were the birth control movement, the Square Deal, and the temperance movement. The birth control movement was a social reform program that advocated for both the availability and acceptance of contraceptive devices.
The Progressive Era was a period of great progress between the 1890s to the 1920s. An ultimate factor that contributed to progressivism was the force of industrialism. At the time, America was experiencing technological innovation which in turn affected society socially and politically. “Progressive reformers brought into public debate issues such as the role of women in society and the rights of labor” (Brinkley, 476). Essentially, reformers were raising awareness for women involvement in society.

The Progressive Era was a period in the United States that changed the way people thought about things including labor and voting rights, politics, education, industry, etc. A vast amount of policies and laws came out of the Progressive Era that improved the lives of individual people and society. The policies that were established then continue to shape the U.S. government and economy today, including child labor and education laws, food-safety requirements, and granting women’s rights. Workplaces and other environments throughout society began to be perceived as humane, having no children working and no undesirable bones in the meat sent to be sold. The Progressives of the 1890s through the 1920 were people in the United States of America that pushed change and reform to make life better. They wanted to bring change and reform to the United States by creating acts and fixing problems through the government. Progressives were successful in bringing reform at the federal level with the Clayton Antitrust Act, the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, and the Keating-Owen act of 1916.
Progressive tries to tackle many of the issues that we face today. The Progressive movement addressed the issues in factories and the liberties given to the people. With vast growth in population in concentrated areas came more technological advances. Many acts of legislation were passed during this era, especially those in the labor market. Mainly the Progressive Era had a lot of focus on the social issues of the time.
Progressives In the time from 1880 to 1937, many changes were taking place in America. The United States has come out of the Civil War and rebuilt, including many changes to how the US had looked and operated before the war. The United States was greatly impacted by the development of progressivism and its influence on all major politics at this time. Though progressive ideas split the country in some political aspects, they helped to better the nation and would be even more beneficial in later global economic situations. One of the most well known presidents for his progressive ideals, Theodore Roosevelt, acted on his progressive beliefs in a way that allowed the US to grow into the global power it has become.
The Progressive movement began as an idea to fix the cities, however, it involved a lot more than just fixing up the cities. Many reform efforts that ranged from cutting down on poverty, improving the conditions of urbanized housing, and labor reform. The Progressives wanted impactful rules by the government on industry. During the Progressive movement, women were one of the major groups that battled hard for reform. Women were involved with many of the reforms like clean water sanitation, collection of garbage in areas stricken with poverty, and education of underprivileged children.
The “Progressive Movement was an early-20th century reform movement seeking to return control of the government to the people, to restore economic opportunity, and to correct injustices in American life.” (Danzer R54). The Progressive Era marked the end of the “Gilded Ages” and a start of a new era. The Progressive Era started in 1901 in the United States (Fagnilli 26). There were many major reforms in the Progressive Era that altered and advanced American society.
