Many people enjoy to eat meat whether its steak, bacon, or chicken. However, we don’t really know exactly how our food is treated before we buy it. There are four main companies that run the meat industry and these are Tyson, Cargill, JBS, and National Beefing Packing CO. Big companies like this have a say on how farmers are supposed to raise the meat. For example, chickens are housed in poor, tight, and not well kept conditions. They usually live in a building were barley any light comes in. The feed the farmers give these animals are filled with antibiotics. With these antibiotics, the chickens can grow faster and put on more meat in little to no time. The feed is tampered with in many ways, for instants cow bones were crushed up

Around thirty percent of land base is just for corn. The reason is because corn is the main component. This particular crop is cheaper, and makes animals twice as big. When going to the grocery store, you are surrounded by many different products. However, most if not all of them have one thing in common, and that is corn as an ingredient. This creates the thought of diversity, but the food products have similar ingredients. Not just corn but artificial sugars or sweeteners. Farmers in the corn industry are controlled by agribusiness, specifically Monsanto. Monsanto in simple terms is an investigation company for agribusiness. This company is known by many farmers which have a negative point of view towards them. Monsanto specially makes seeds for farmers to buy from. When farmers buy their seeds, they are basically part of a contract to the Monsanto industry. The contract is that if you purchase Monsanto seeds and you plant them, the seeds reproduced by the plant are not to be planted. If the seeds are not given back to the company and you replant them, Monsanto can sue you causing

For instance, companies like Monsanto want to get farmers to plant their seeds, and they can continue to force farmers by constantly pushing them to do so. Also small businesses have a greater chance of being taken over by bigger companies. However, there are benefits to making honest produce. By making these products and having people buy them, it is helping the consumer’s health. Most crops are grown with pesticides which can cause harmful things to the body. Having these organic foods made is going to be beneficial for people who will be at a lower risk of health problems. But there are still plenty of people who want to eat foods with pesticides because without them some might consider the food uncleanly. Most of these small companies are selling their food locally. It costs more money, but getting foods locally means that there are less preservatives in them which makes the food last longer. Also the items didn’t have to travel far distances making them
