Let’s set the scene; you are in a plane, 30,000 feet in the air awaiting to get to Florida for your yearly vacation. You are enthusiastic to see your cousins for the first time, go swimming in the ocean, and ride some roller coasters. But, suddenly, a man stands up in the backseat with an AR-15 yelling a derogatory slur. Everybody freaks out, yelling and screaming for the flight attendants, but before you know it you hear a loud, deafening ring and see nothing but white. And it could have all been prevented at the airport security line. While airport security searches can feel uncomfortable, the searches should be more detailed because of how easy it is for terrorists to smuggle weapons into items, all of the recent terrorist attacks having to do with …show more content…
But, I can easily counter-argue that with one sentence: would you rather have people be uncomfortably patted down at the airport to make sure that they didn’t have a weapon on them, or get gunned down by a terrorist in a plane with nothing you can do. In my opinion, the first option is much easier. I think it is so important that this happens that it should be a normal part of air travel, for every different age, size, race, gender, etc. It’s kind of like doing a sport such as mountain biking, snowboarding, skiing, etc without wearing a helmet; even though that you probably won’t get into a life-threatening accident with your brain, you should always have the protection just in case.
In conclusion, airport security searches should become a lot more detailed because of how clever some of the terrorists can be, recent events having to do with terrorism, and how we can stop the attacks while airborne. Remember, the next time that you are at an airport, going through a metal detector or getting patted down, know that it is for the safety of you, and for everybody else; not to harm
