During The Age of Exploration many explorers came to the New World in the 1500’s and 1600’s. Henry Hudson came to the America’s in 1609 and spent most of his career looking for different trade routes. Hudson was sponsored by different company’s, but was always in search for new ones. Hudson and a few other members were kicked off-board and sent adrift for their behavior. The crew and Hudson had many, many failed voyages, but found a great discovery on his last voyage. Henry Hudson was born in England, United Kingdom in 1565. Hudson spent his life looking for different trade routes to Asia and was normally sponsored by the Dutch, but was always in search for new sponsors. Hudson became a commander in his late 20’s and sailed his own ship with a crew in 1607. He made two unsuccessful voyages on his way to Asia due to the climate and the directions of the path they took. He was married to a woman named Katherine, they had three sons together their names were Oliver, Richard, and John Hudson. Henry Hudson worked a lot with the Dutch, but when the authorities found out they forbade him to work with the Dutch again. Hudson was always in search for new sponsors when he went on new ventures. On his fourth voyage after searching he found a body of water that would later be called the Hudson Bay. Hudson also found a northern trade route to Asia in 1607. Hudson and his crew had to fight icy conditions due to the path they traveled and they also ran low on food supply because they were stuck in the ocean for such a long time. On June 1611 Hudson and several other ship members including his son were kicked off board and died from exposure, but Hudson died June 22, 1611 near the bay.
